DHS Names Cybersecurity Chief

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced this morning that Mark Weatherford has been appointed as the new Deputy Under Secretary for Cybersecurity for the department's National Protection and Programs Directorate.

Weatherford, who formerly led the Navy's computer network defense operations and the Naval Computer Incident Response Team, most recently was vice president and chief security officer of the North American Electric Reliability Corp. He also has been chief information security officer for the state of California and chief security officer for the state of Colorado.

Weatherford will start his new job in mid-November.
