President Donald Trump plans to nominate a 20-year veteran of the CIA and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to be the next chief information officer of the national spymaster’s office, the White House announced Friday.

John Sherman is currently deputy director of the CIA’s Open Source Enterprise where he’s responsible for incorporating open-source intelligence into the Intelligence Community’s Information Technology Enterprise, or ICITE.

ICITE (pronounced eyesight) is the IC's strategy to further intelligence integration through changing its business model and incorporating emerging technologies into its various component agencies.

Sherman previously served as a duty officer in the White House Situation Room, as principal deputy national intelligence officer for military issues on the National Intelligence Council and in several positions at NGA, according to a White House release.
