The integrator. It’s a common refrain that the government needs to pull more cybersecurity talent from industry, and Schneck is a prime example of why. Her private-sector technical and leadership background was a key asset as she led the integration of DHS’ cybersecurity activities. Schneck brought coherence to disparate DHS programs and provided sound advice to cybersecurity offices throughout government. A thinker known for seeing the forest where others see trees, she brought commercial best practices to DHS and helped lead the response to multiple cybersecurity incidents throughout 2016.
