Presidential Contender Trump Trying to Fight Off Hackers

Investigators are probing a payment card breach that traces back to the Trump Hotel Collection, a chain of luxury inns affiliated with real estate titan Donald Trump.

An unidentified number of credit and debit cards that recently racked up fraudulent charges all had first been used at Trump hotels.

Eric Trump, executive vice president of development and acquisitions at the Trump organization, said in a statement: “Like virtually every other company these days, we have been alerted to potential suspicious credit card activity and are in the midst of a thorough investigation to determine whether it involves any of our properties...We are committed to safeguarding all guests’ personal information and will continue to do so vigilantly.”

Financial industry sources say several of the enterprise’s U.S. locations — including Chicago, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York — are dealing with a hack that appears to date back to earlier this year.
