Hackers Steal Details on Japan Airlines’ Frequent Fliers
Hospitality
The company discovered a virus on 23 PCs that handle customer information for the airlines’ frequent flier club. It is believed the hack went undetected for more than a month.
The virus might have exposed names, addresses, genders and places of work of members of JAL’s mileage program, the airline disclosed on Sept. 24.
Seven of the PCs evidently were sending data to a server in Hong Kong.
“JAL believes the breach began with a rogue email that introduced a virus to its network,” Japan Times reports.
