Selfies snapped by robbery duo reveal stolen iPhone

Technology // New York, United States

Two high school-aged kids wanted for a string of crimes in New York were arrested after they took self portraits with a victim’s mobile device.

The 19- and 16-year-olds are suspected of thefts in January and February. During one incident, a 22 year-old man was walking home at 1 a.m. when the pair approached and showed him what looked like a black handgun.

The suspects nicked $205 and the victim’s iPhone.

“Later that day, the victim checked his iCloud and saw the suspects had taken photos of themselves with his iPhone — and he then told police,” officials told the newspaper. “Detectives then used the shots to identify and arrest the two men.”
