In preparation for today's hearing on the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act (background here and here), here's a video of Sen. Joe Lieberman's, I-Conn., public comments at a presser last week. Today's panel includes:

Philip R. Reitinger, deputy undersecretary at the National Protection and Programs Directorate at the Homeland Security Department

Robert D. Jamison, former undersecretary of Homeland Security for National Protection and Programs

Frances Fragos Townsend, chairwoman of the board at the Intelligence and National Security Alliance

Alan Paller, director of research at the SANS Institute

Steven T. Naumann, vice president for Wholesale Market Development at the Exelon Corp.

Sara C. Santarelli, chief network security officer at Verizon

Among the many talking points today, I fully expect the panel to request amendments to the bill. The legislation is a big step in demanding continuous monitoring and establishing an executive office for cyber in the White House. But it also comes up short in certain areas and has a few loop holes for agencies unwilling to change from the status quo. More on this after the hearing, which takes place at 3 p.m. EDT.
