DARPA Plans Deep Brain Dive to Understand PTSD, TBI

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has launched a program that aims to use shared, multi-disciplinary brain research data and analysis tools to -- among other things -- develop quantitative characterizations of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
The Pentagon’s research arm wants to develop an open framework for a reference brain architecture that will use scalable computational tools for modeling and analysis of brain data.
DARPA also wants to tap into masses of brain scan data collected by MRI and CT scans, de-identify it, and then aggregate it for clues into how the brain works.
The agency wants hear from some brainy folks on how to tackle this task by Nov. 18.
