National Coordinator Unveils New Health IT Dashboard

The new portal will provide information on innovation grants.

The latest model of the federal government’s health IT “dashboard,” released today, puts the public in the driver’s seat when it comes to collecting and analyzing information from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.

ONC is taking the opportunity to promote its health IT strategy on the dashboard interface, but it’s also the portal for information on health-care innovation grant programs and data on health IT adoption across the country.

"The release of the Health IT Dashboard is a significant milestone and we are glad to welcome the website as a tool for delivering key data to ONC's stakeholders and the interested public," said Victor Lazzaro, ONC's performance officer and director of health IT dashboard projects, in an announcement distributed by email.

ONC says the dashboard employs an interactive package of technologies that allow users to “map, chart, and access” agency data.

Among information on the site are summaries of all ONC grant programs, detailed information on performance data by Health IT Regional Extension Centers and community college health IT education programs. Some available data is organized into geographic maps, ONC says.

Next up, expect to see a new dashboard on electronic health records and health information exchange, probably sometime in June.
