Vets Stiffed Down Under

Here's a familiar tale from the other side of the planet:

The Herald Sun of Melbourne, Australia reported that veterans as young as 25 down there are being dumped in nursing homes or opt to live in the bush because the Australian Defence Department lacks proper mental health care facilities for troops with invisible wounds of war from tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The paper reported that Shadow Minister for Defence Science, Technology and Personnel, Stuart Robert, said it was "completely unacceptable" that young veterans were being put in nursing homes.

"You cannot send our boys and girls to war and not take care of them when they come home," he said.
