The Skinny Budget and Agency Reorganization

It's a busy week for the executive branch.

The Trump administration last week released its "skinny budget." With cuts to agencies like the State Department, the budget is controversial and those affected by cuts are reacting strongly.

Nextgov's own Frank Konkel joined "Government Matters'" Federal Beat roundtable to discuss the proposed budget, as well as a recent executive order that asks agencies to reorganize themselves, before many agency leaders have been put into place.

"It doesn't seem to make that much sense to ask these folks who are just getting into the agencies, that probably don't know their secretaries' names yet, to do that," Konkel said.

Konkel also made a suggestion that if the Trump administration is looking to cut waste, fraud and abuse, listening to Government Accountability Office recommendations would be a great place to start.
