Does the Navy Know Microwave Signals Can Be Intercepted?

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command is in the market for an over-the-air Top Secret network.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command has a procurement on the street for a point-to-point microwave transmitter to carry the most sensitive military traffic around, classified at the Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS SCI) level.

SPAWAR did not identify the end points of this microwave network, but I know that if something goes over the air, it can be intercepted -- as the NSA routinely does with anyone stupid enough to use microwave transmission.

If SPAWAR can’t use terrestrial fiber circuits to meet this requirement, maybe it should consider carrier pigeons.
