Agent Orange and Korea

The Veterans Affairs Department on Tuesday published in the Federal Register a final regulation covering veterans exposed to Agent Orange herbicides while serving along the demilitarized zone (DMZ) in Korea.

VA said under the new regulation it will presume herbicide exposure for any veteran who served between April 1, 1968, and Aug. 31, 1971, in a unit determined by VA and the Defense Department to have operated in an area in, or near, the Korean DMZ where herbicides were applied.

Previously, VA said it recognized exposure to Agent Orange for veterans who served along the DMZ between April 1968 and July 1969.
