SSA seeks tech assist

The Social Security Administration is looking for potential bidders on a contract to provide workstations and related hardware, software and services to SSA employees with disabilities.

The contractor will be responsible for providing and installing products, as well as installing assistive technologies on existing equipment, and for future upgrades and revisions. Assistive devices potentially covered by the program include specialized keyboards and keyboard overlays, microphones and voice recognition technology, speech output software and devices, computer screen magnifiers and refreshable Braille output systems.

Navy expands e-learning

The Navy has opted to expand an e-learning project using Thinq Learning Solutions Inc.'s learning management software, the company announced this month. The chief of Naval Education and Training has conducted a pilot program, using the software to manage training at limited facilities and ships during the past year. The Navy is now extending the program to ships, submarines and other facilities around the world. Thinq's Learning Management System helps the Navy keep track of 2,000 e-learning courses taken by its personnel.

CACI keeps Navy records

The Navy has awarded CACI International Inc. a $25 million contract for continued support of its Electronic Military Personnel Records System. The system, based in Millington, Tenn., holds more than 3 million Navy records of active-duty, reserve and retired personnel. The contract was awarded through the General Services Administration's Millennia Lite program.
