Navy BPA offers 508 Web tool

SSB Technologies is providing its InSight and InFocus Section 508 bundle at a deep discount

The Navy Department has negotiated a blanket purchase agreement with a second small-business vendor to offer software that can scan Web sites for accessibility by users with disabilities.

SSB Technologies Inc. is providing its InSight and InFocus Section 508 bundle for $499 to Defense Department purchasers through a Naval Inventory Control Point BPA, according to the Navy Information Technology Umbrella Web site (www.it-umbrella.navy.mil).

InSight and InFocus can handle tables and forms on Web sites and reduce "false positive" Section 508 violations, according to Brandon Shamin, an SSB Technologies spokesman.

The two Navy BPAs for Section 508 compliance tools — the other is for Crunchy Technologies Inc.'s PageScreamer 2.0 — have been added to the list of DOD Enterprise Software Initiative agreements, said Rex Bolton, chairman for the DOD's Enterprise Software Initiative Working Group at the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

According to Bolton, the Navy was able to reduce the pricing for InSight and InFocus down from $15,000 per license.

The deadline for posting Section 508-compliant, fully accessible federal Web sites passed on June 21.
