There's still a long way to go with pay equality for our computer and communications specialists
As a personal opinion, we still have a long way to go with pay equality for our computer and communications specialist within government.
The steps taken last year are a start but just that — a start.
I'll relay a conversation I had with a recent graduate on one of my cross-country trips: The graduate had a bachelor's degree in business and information management. Also had some self-taught experience in Web design and development. Salary right out of school with one of the Big 5 consulting firms was about $60,000. Signing bonus and moving allowances was about another $10,000.
True, cash may not be the big draw as we settle into a lifetime career, but tell me again how we compete with industry in trying to draw new blood into our ranks?
