Expert Dialogue: Virtualization and the Cloud
Your chance to ask questions about one of the hottest topics in federal IT these days.
Nextgov is pleased to announce the latest in our series of Expert Dialogues.
Expert Dialogues is your chance to engage in conversations with leading practitioners and observers on key issues surrounding the government's use and implementation of information technology. In each dialogue, we take your questions for a week, forward them to an expert, then publish the responses. All the while, you can continue the conversation in our discussion forums.
Our new dialogue is on Virtualization, one of the hottest buzzwords in the federal IT world these days. The spread of the concept, which involves separating applications from the underlying physical hardware on which they run, is playing out against the backdrop of the Obama administration's push for agencies to look first for cloud-computing solutions on new projects.
If you have questions about how all of this will work in the real world, now you have the opportunity to ask someone who's spent a great deal of time researching and writing about these issues. Carolyn Marsan, a regular contributor to Nextgov who has more than two decades experience covering IT issues, will take your queries the week of Feb. 1. She'll be back the week of Feb. 14 with answers to selected questions.
