With as much time as Carlson spends on her nonprofit and charity work, it is easy to forget that she's also responsible for a $1.7 billion a year business as vice president of Microsoft's federal business. Her responsibilities include sales, marketing, communications and contracts.
At the same time Carlson serves on the boards of the Bethesda chapter of AFCEA International and the Association for Federal Information Resources Management. She also is deeply involved with the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council, AeA and the Red Cross as a strong supporter of programs for wounded service personnel. Friends and colleagues praise Carlson for her “let’s do it” spirit.
Carlson is a Red Cross chapter board member and chairwoman of its Fire and Ice Ball. “She is also a member of our Tiffany Circle, which is a women’s leadership giving society,” said Nan Moring, chief public support officer at the National Capital Area Chapter.
“Carlson has raised thousands of dollars through the Fire and Ice Ball to support our services to the Armed Forces.” Moring said.
