*** The Department of Veterans Affairs announced organizational changes to its $21 billion Electronic Health Records Modernization Program last week. The changes include naming Terry Adirim, currently acting assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, to the job of program executive director for EHR integration – a new position that reports directly to VA’s deputy secretary. VA also added a deputy CIO position to focus on the EHRM project – much of the infrastructure and hardware modernization efforts associated with the new health record are done in cooperation with VA’s Office of Information and Technology. The agency also strengthened the ERHM’s Office of the Functional Champion to have a leading role in managing patient safety issues.

*** The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is ready for the small business community to start working on their bids for a potential 10-year, $8 billion professional services contract focused on satellite programs. Initial bids for the contract known as ProTech 2.0 Satellite Domain are due to NOAA by Jan. 6, the agency said in a Thursday Sam.gov notice to release the solicitation.
