*** Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue violated the Hatch Act at an agency event in August that included a speech in support of the re-election of President Donald Trump, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel stated in an Oct. 8 letter. The Hatch Act prohibits executive branch officials other than the president and the vice president from engaging in political activity under the color of official taxpayer-funded activity. The OSC ruling requires the Treasury to be reimbursed for the cost of Perdue's travel
