Cloud expander. Under Hashmi’s leadership, GSA embarked on Phase 2 of its ambitious Drive to the Cloud initiative, which included migrating thousands of enterprise applications to a cloud-based platform. Because no one in government had built a cloud enterprise of this size, many organizational processes and frameworks had to be redesigned. Hashmi tackled the challenges by assembling a team of technical, business and change-management experts from GSA and the private sector. The new platform, called GSAConnect, now forms the core of all the agency’s operations. It connects people, content, knowledge, business processes and data, while saving millions of taxpayer dollars.
