Legislation sponsored by Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) would forbid federal agencies to provide grants to tax delinquents, FedSmith reports.
Grassley's legislation also includes a requirement that 10 percent of federal grants be audited each year to ensure they comply with program requirements. In addition, it would institute a two-year ban on awarding grants to people or entities with unresolved problems related to an audit.
The proposal is an amendment to a Public Works and Economic Development Reauthorization bill.
