Advanced meters present energy use data in real time

Between June 1 and Sept. 30 each year, General Services Administration building managers in the Mid-Atlantic region keep a closer eye on their inboxes. On 10 of the hottest days each summer, they receive an e-mail prompting them to cut energy usage at their facilities.
