Online system tracks flight noise near Dulles, Reagan
The Washington Post
The region's airports authority has unveiled an Internet system designed to help the public track noisy flights near area airports. The map-based system, known as Airscene, allows users to collect data about flights around Dulles International and Reagan National airports 72 hours after they occur. Users can access decibel readouts from the airports' 40 noise-monitoring stations, many of which are in Loudon and Fairfax counties close to Dulles. The program also includes limited data on aircraft types and other flight information, such as airline flight numbers.
