Health IT metrics taking shape

While the Congressional Budget Office estimates health IT will save $12 billion over 10 years, David Blumenthal, the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, says he expects actual savings to "far exceed" that figure. President Obama has set a goal that every American should have an electronic health record by 2014. "That is the goal we are working toward right now. We are trying to make the network available as fast as we can," Blumenthal said in an interview with MIT's Technology Review.
