Bloomberg and NYC as the connected city

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city is opening up many of its records for programmers to write applications using the data. "We don't know what we'll get from it, but you have to find out. There a lot of smart people out there. You create a competition and you go for it," he said in a press conference after his appearance at a "Smarter Cities" conference put on by IBM.
