States hope feds will help replace legacy systems

With President-elect Barack Obama proposing to spend billions of dollars on road and bridge projects as part of his economic stimulus plan, some state CIOs are hoping that their aging IT infrastructures might also qualify for makeovers. In an online survey of state CIOs, nearly two-thirds of the 29 respondents said that between 40 percent and 80 percent of their IT setups consisted of legacy systems.
