Federal-state links vital
Your Aug. 1 article, "States open toolkit, talks for EA," is an excellent example of the cooperation that can happen among governmental entities. In my opinion, federal-state data linkage is critical to a wider range of situations than law enforcement, as in the present.
Opening the federal enterprise architecture structure and expanding the segments to include state and local data links would go a long way to interoperability and do so at significantly less cost.
The National Association of State Chief Information Officers has taken a great step forward. I hope that the federal community will respond with open arms.
