NIST guidelines should be law
This is in response to an FCW.com survey question that asked "What is the primary obstacle to improving information security at federal agencies?"
National Institute of Standards and Technology information security recommendations to federal agencies — including mandatory access controls on federal systems that process sensitive, classified or confidential information — should be regulatory policy, mandated by law, and enforced with the full power and authority of the U.S. Congress.
