E-filing is on target
Caught your article in Federal Computer Week on e-filing ["Good returns for e-filing taxes," FCW, Feb. 4] and wanted to say this concept is right on target!
I used Intuit Inc.'s TurboTax for the Web to do my federal and state taxes for the year 2001. I completed everything on the Web on Jan. 27 and received my refunds in my bank Feb. 1 (state) and Feb. 6 (federal).
It was very efficient, there was absolutely no paperwork to send, and it was low cost $19.95 for federal, $9.95 for state and a $10 bank handling fee. Last year, my tax preparer charged more than $200 and made a mistake and he had to re-file.
In all, this is great service to the taxpayer effective and at a low cost. My only recommendation to readers is for them to have DSL or cable access for Internet service; otherwise, it takes about three hours to load data. My bank was very professional and explained the process extremely well.
