Letter to the editor

This is in regard to the editorial in the Dec. 10, 2001, issue of Federal Computer Week.

Most Americans would not object to the national identification card idea. What they would object to, and will lose control of, are the added things that our leaders could mandate, such as logging of firearms purchases.

There are many who would use the card to do all things currently not possible because we do not have a central card or database. The potential for loss of our taken-for-granted liberties is vast without some type of controls upfront.
