Industry salary wins vs. Navy

My son, who graduated from college with a mechanical engineering degree (3.45 GPA), was offered a job with the Navy. Salary: $42,000 to start, with increases every six months.

He was also offered a job in private industry. Salary: $52,000 to start. He also received a $3,000 signing bonus, plus the company paid his relocation expenses. These were not offered by the Navy.

Which job do you think he took? NOT THE NAVY.

He had worked for a government agency while in school, so he knows a little about government work. He made an informed decision. Many others will do like him and go to the private sector.
