Fair promotions aren't a management goal

This comment regards a letter to the editor from June 21, "A proposal for fair promotions."

The writer does provide a solution to make the promotion process fair and unbiased, as he states. However, he fails to understand that a completely fair and unbiased selection process for all promotions is not a "management" goal and never will be.

If the writer's solution were adopted, management would no longer "control" the hiring process.
