Low pay means best feds will leave
I enjoyed reading Milt Zall's May 21 response to critics of his position on pay increases ["Equal raises for all"]. I could not agree more!
I think the unequal increases are a clear message to civilian employees: "Please vote with your feet." I just wish someone in the administration would get some courage and say it explicitly.
The great thing about the Federal Employees Retirement System is that we can go if we want. The best of us will.
But the public needs to know what is really happening: Discouraging work conditions and low pay will lead to poorer performance by workers who are only there out of necessity and who may care less about the work than about finding the better position elsewhere.
