ID theft at prominent medical center leads to 788 fraud incidents

About 27,000 of a total of 62,000 employees were affected by a breach of personal information at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

The compromised data contained employees' Social Security numbers. At least 788 have experienced some type of tax fraud and several others have had bank accounts ransacked.
