Cybersecurity Review Due Friday

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters today the results of the Obama administration's 60-day review of the federal government's cybersecurity posture will be released Friday.

From Nextgov sister publication Congress Daily:

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters today the results of the Obama administration's 60-day review of the federal government's cybersecurity posture will be released Friday.

The probe, begun shortly after Obama took office, is expected to make broad recommendations for protecting public and private sector networks from high-tech attackers.

The report's release has been delayed due to internal disagreements about where a cyber czar would be housed and what kind of power that official would wield, non-administration officials familiar with the report said.

It's important to note that it was Obama's press secretary, not someone farther down the reporting chain, who announced that the review would be released. A sign that cybersecurity, long held at arms length from White House policy thinkers, now has the president's ear?
