Tips for Using Your New iPhone X

Whether you were gifted the iPhone X for the holidays or it was simply time for an upgrade, you might be wondering how to use this new-fangled smartphone.

While the X works differently from any iPhone that came before it—it is missing that classic home button—it's not too hard to get the hang of.

Gesture-based navigation is the new way to control your device, so mind where you place your fingers. To force close an app, swipe up to bring up the app switcher and long press on the application preview you wish to close and then tap the close button in the top left corner.

The method of taking screenshots has also changed slightly. Just press the volume up and lock buttons at the same time.

Additionally, Siri can't be contacted by the home button anymore. Instead, to get in touch with her, long press the lock button along the right edge of the phone.

To see how much battery life you have left, pull down from the top right of the screen to show the percentage in the control center.
