Tech company Bragi isn't at CES 2018 to promote a fancy new gadget. Instead, they've partnered with Mimi Hearing Technologies to introduce Project Ears. Done with Food and Drug Administration approval, the company aims to create personalized hearing technology within an unobtrusive design, Engadget reported.

Potential users will start with a pure tone hearing test—which determines someone's hearing needs—that has already been made available. Project Ears says the technology will then automatically program itself to the needs of the individual without manual programming or smartphone control.

The company hopes to eventually work on hearing enhancement for specific environments like construction sites.

Assistive hearing technology is on the rise, due to recent legislation deregulating hearing aids.
