Digital assistants are increasingly becoming a presence in people's homes. Both the Google Assistant software that powers Google Home and the Alexa software that powers the Amazon Echo can recognize individual voices and do numerous tasks based on that recognition.

Alexa lets you make calls and gives a personalized daily briefing, while Google lets you check your personal calendar and flight information. Both digital assistants can make purchases through just voice recognition alone.

But how well does Alexa or Google really recognize a voice? If the software can be tricked, then what does that mean for personal security?
