Asia, the United States and Europe are neck-and-neck-and-neck in supercomputing power.
The neck-and-neck competition for innovation among the United States, Europe and Asia is clear in this list of the top 10 supercomputers in the world, released June 20.

2. Tianhe-1A, National Supercomputing Center, Tianjin, China
3. Jaguar, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, United States
4. Nebulae, National Supercomputing Center, Shenzhen, China
5. Tsubame 2.0, Global Scientific Information and Computing Center, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan
6. Cielo, Los Alamos National Laboratory, United States
7. Pleiades, NASA Ames Research Center, United States
8. Hopper, National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center, United States
9. Tera-100, Commissariat a l’Energie Atomique, Bruyeres-le-Chatel, France
10. Roadrunner, Los Alamos National Laboratory, United States
Four short years ago, in the June 2007 list, the United States had the top eight spots, and Japan’s highest ranked supercomputer was at position 14 while China’s was at 43.
