Online registration for the 24th annual Bataan Memorial Death March closes on Wednesday with the desert hike/marathon at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., on Sunday, March 17.
This will mark my fifth year at the event, an exercise in comradeship and history that includes the opportunity to shake hands with the dwindling number of survivors of the 80-mile death trek in the Philippines 71 years ago who show up every year for the memorial march.
Last year, I issued a challenge to the Defense Information Systems Agency to field a team to join me this year but I have not heard back from anyone at DISA.
So, a note to the folks at Fort Meade: Register now.
