New proposal deadlines will be Sept. 13 for Alliant 2 Unrestricted and Sept. 12 for Alliant 2 Small Business.

Industry has another two weeks to submit bids for Alliant 2, the largest IT contract released in the past decade, after an extension by the General Services Administration.

The new proposal deadline for Alliant 2 Unrestricted—valued at potentially $50 billion—is Sept. 13, and Sept. 12 for Alliant 2 Small Business, which could be worth up to $15 billion.

The postponements come after an Aug. 10 bid protest from Vienna, Virginia-based Enterprise Information Services, but GSA told Federal Times today the extensions are not related to the protest.

"The extension of the receipt of Alliant 2 proposals is not related to the protest, but rather to allow an additional two weeks for offerors to collect their contracting officer-signed proposal templates from their client agencies,” a GSA spokesperson said.

In any case, GSA is beginning to factor bid protests into expected contracting outcomes. According to Deltek’s federal market analysis, bid protests have increased 60 percent since fiscal 2008.
