That former federal Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra would announce his candidacy to be Virginia’s lieutenant governor on Twitter may have been a given in retrospect.
What better way for a technologist to simultaneously reach out to his natural constituency and build new followers. One major question remains, though, about the Virginia Democrat’s Tweet:
“I'm in! I've just filed to seek @vademocrats nomination for Lt Gov of Va. Please read my statement & join me http://on.fb.me/Li8Rbc #together”
Was it a self-conscious echo of perhaps the most famous online candidacy announcement? Or did the early Obama supporter just need to conserve space?
