Health and Human Services Chief Information Officer Michael Carleton will leave his post at the end of July, according to a report by FedScoop.
An HHS spokesman could not immediately confirm Carleton's departure Monday afternoon.
Carleton is the third federal IT leader to announce he's leaving his post this summer. Federal CIO Vivek Kundra plans to leave in August to take a fellowship at Harvard University. Justice Department CIO Vance Hitch also has said he will leave government.
It's not clear from the FedScoop story if Carleton plans to retire or to take a job in academia or the private sector.
Carleton was CIO at the General Services Administration before taking his current post. He had held a number of positions at HHS dating back to the 1970s.
