The Library of Congress launched its own YouTube channel on April 7. The site currently offers 74 videos organized by the following playlists: 2008 National Book Festival author presentations, the Books and Beyond author series, Journeys and Crossings (a series of curator discussions), "Westinghouse" industrial films, scholar discussions from the John W. Kluge Center, and the earliest movies made by Thomas Edison.

According to the Library of Congress blog, this is just the beginning. The nation's oldest federal cultural institution is home to roughly 6 million films, broadcasts and sound recordings. They plan to add more content following suit with their popular Flickr Pilot Project.
