FEMA revamps Spanish language site
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has redesigned a Spanish-language Web site with disaster information and a user-friendly format.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has debuted a redesigned Spanish-language Web site that offers news about disasters, preparedness assistance, a family registry and a locator service.
The redesigned Web site offers a Spanish version of FEMA’s National Emergency Family Registry and Locator system, which is used during a disaster to search for displaced family members.
The site has a user-friendly format to navigate information on preparedness, recovery and mitigation and for registering for disaster assistance, the agency said.
“We are happy to announce this updated Web site, which will ensure that communities across the country continue to have the tools necessary to be prepared before an emergency or disaster strikes,” Craig Fugate, FEMA administrator, said Oct. 15.
FEMA is the second Homeland Security Department agency to announce a revamped Spanish-language Web site in recent weeks. U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services in September launched a site with interactive features and included a Spanish-language version for the first time.
Other federal agencies also offer sites and Web pages in Spanish, including GobiernoUSA.gov, a Web portal to multiple federal agencies. The Social Security Administration offers a Spanish-language site, while the Veterans Administration offers Web pages with fact sheets on available benefits in Spanish .
