Conserving data is a must for any smartphone user who doesn't want to be stuck with a nasty bill. There are a few things Android users specifically can do to ensure their device doesn't gobble up every last bit.

While in the Chrome browser, turn on the "data saver" setting to reduce the size of images and thus conserve data when browsing. Additionally, email and social media accounts could be checking for updates in the background. You can stop this by going to the data usage settings and turn on the "restrict background data" option.
