An updated operating system gives users more choices.

Congratulations on installing Apple's new operating system for the iPhone, iOS 11. But before you run off into paradise with your newly updated smartphone, there are a few changes you might want to make.

First, customize your new control center, as the new operating system gives users some more flexibility. To make adjustments, go to Settings, then to Control Center, and then to Customize Controls to add shortcuts to frequently used apps like the alarm clock or calculator.

Users can also opt to turn on the "Do Not Disturb While Driving" feature to avoid distractions in the car. Go to the Settings app and then to Do Not Disturb. Once there, switch the toggle.

iPhone users should also make some changes to location services to protect their privacy. Apple has recently taken away the option to always have location tracking on from developers. Now, users can choose between having location services turned on "While Using the App" which works for mapping and weather apps or "Never" for nearly everything else. Make those changes by going to the Settings app, then to Privacy and then to Location Services.
