Coast Guard Seeks Mobile Interface for Health Data

It must work with both Apple and Android platforms.

The Coast Guard wants to be able to allow authorized health-care providers to securely view electronic health records on smart phones and tablets.

In a March Request for Proposal updated last week, the service said the interface must use commercial, off-the-shelf items and incorporate a secure mobile solution providing wireless access points integrated with the Coast Guard’s network for use at 43 medical clinics and one support facility. It also must allow physicians to review lab results remotely and provide medical personnel remote access to EHRs at remote disaster and operations sites, according to the RFP published in FedBizOps.gov.

The interface has to work with tablet computers as well as both iOS (Apple) and Android smartphone platforms, according to the solicitation. Proposals are due Aug. 29.
