With Hurricane Sandy bearing down on the mid-Atlantic region, the organizers of the Executive Leadership Conference have canceled the annual three-day event. ELC was to take place in Colonial Williamsburg, Va.

"Due to inclement weather we regret to announce that #ELC2012 has been cancelled. We will contact all attendees on refund policy procedures," tweeted the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council late on the morning of Oct. 28 -- the first day of the event.

Just 14 hours before the cancellation announcement, the organization had tweeted a message encouraging attendees to get an app providing instant access to information on sessions and speakers.
